Audition Information

Sylvania Arts Youth Theatre can see upwards of 75 children during our audition process. As you can imagine, trying to manage all the applications, conflicts and casting can be quite the undertaking. To help our volunteer staff who spend countless hours pulling everything together, we are adopting a new system for managing our audition process. We will be using Casting Manager this year for our entire audition process, from signups to notifying of callbacks. You will even be able to list your known conflicts when signing up for an audition. We understand that change can be hard and that this change may take some getting used to. To help with the transition to the new tool, we have created a walk-through guide to help you in case you get stuck when registering for auditions.

We are asking that EVERYONE goes through this new system to register for an audition. If you have multiple children who plan to audition, you will need to create an account for each child (with a unique email address). This email address is going to be very important as your audition confirmation and casting/callback information will be sent to it. In the walk-through guide, the email address that communications for the casting process will come through is listed. Feel free to add that to your contacts to reduce the risk of emails going to spam.

If you run into any issues, please email producersylvaniaarts@gmail.com for assistance.

Additional Info Not In Audition Packet

  • In addition to fees, we do require that base costumes are provided by our actors. Typically base costumes consist of black tank tops or leotards and black pants or tights. Different roles may have different base costumes and this information will be thoroughly communicated well in advance of the children needing these items. Dance shoes are also a staple requirement for most shows regardless of where you perform, we will most likely require black jazz shoes as a base but again, this will communicated well in advance.

  • Conflicts do matter when we cast - please be honest about the conflicts that you are aware of. Failure to do so may result in us having to recast your role. If everyone is honest, then we are all playing on the same field. This is OUR show and OUR show success is based on EVERYONE in the cast - we cannot stress this enough.*****

  • Audition Cuts Can Be Tricky - We have provided some helper audio files for our younger cast members to listen to as a means of helping them prepare for their audition. These helper audio tracks are to help you know the melody and timing. Please listen to the music to ensure you are matching your pitch correctly.

  • Parent Meeting on Thursday, December 12 at 7pm at Epworth

  • Participation Fees will not be due until end of January however the script deposit will be due asap if your child is issued a script. We will provide this info at parent meeting. There will be a sibling discount if you have more than one child who is cast. Information regarding that will also be at parent meeting.
